Experts in Ghana’s Petroleum downstream sector are predicting an increase in the commodity this week as prices on the world market continue to witness a corresponding rise.

The increase which is expected by the weekend is falling outside the designated pricing windows for the month.

Fuel prices per the National Petroleum Authority’s regulations witness adjustments twice every month in what has become known as the first and second pricing windows.

Already there have been concerns of a possible shortage of fuel on the Ghanaian market prompting the finance minister, Ken Ofori Atta, to appeal to parliament to approve some one billion cedis to cushion the impact on Bulk Oil Distribution Companies.

Executive secretary of the chamber for petroleum consumers Ghana, Duncan Amoah, tells correspondent, Eric Mawuena Egbeta that the Ghanaian government must look beyond its search for dollars and deal with the fuel situation.
