The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission in Ghana has called for an emergency meeting with the Teachers’ and Educational Workers’ Union (TEWU) over their nationwide strike. The strike which started on Wednesday, January 13, 2020 comes as students resume learning activities, which were disrupted by the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the union members, their action has been necessitated by the failure of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission to conclude negotiation on their demand for better conditions of service, something they have been agitating for over the years.
Despite the agreement to meet with the commission today, the union maintain they will continue their strike which effect is yet to be felt.
