Togo and Ghana are considering a strategy to allow the reopening of their common borders.
Ghana closed its sea, land and air borders on March 22, 2020, as part of efforts to mitigate the spread of Covid-19. While the air borders have been re-opened, all land borders remain closed with hundreds West African nationals arrested for attempting to flout the directives.
With the delivery of Covid-19 vaccines expected to result in the easing of restrictions, actors of epidemiological surveillance and the staff of the border posts of Ghana and Togo have been meeting in Lomé since Tuesday. That meeting ends today.
