Ghana is to start producing its own COVID-19 vaccines in January 2024. 

This is according to President Nana Akufo-Addo in his State of the Nation Address in parliament on Wednesday.

A National Vaccine Institute would be established to lay out a strategy to begin the first phase of commercial production of the jabs, the president announced.
