Inoculation against COVID-19 with the Johnson and Johnson vaccine will begin in Ghana’s capital, Accra, today. Last week, the country took delivery of 177,600 doses of the vaccine as part of the first batch of the Africa Union’s African Vaccine Acquisition Trust (AVAT) initiative.
Residents in eleven districts – seven in the Greater Accra Region and four in the Greater Kumasi metropolis – are the first beneficiaries.
Addressing the press on Sunday, director general of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kumah Aboagye said other vaccines, including AstraZaneca Vaacine are also being administered.
