The National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus in Ghana’s Parliament has stated that it will defend its majority status when the house resumes on Tuesday. This position comes despite a ruling from a five-member Supreme Court panel, chaired by the Chief Justice, which stayed the Speaker’s decision to declare four parliamentary seats vacant, a decision made in accordance with the country’s constitution.
The NDC MPs emphasized that the Speaker acted within the laws of the country. They also warned that they have received intelligence about plans to deploy the military when the house resumes on Tuesday, an action they have vowed to resist.
