Security has been heightened in Nalerigu and surrounding communities in Ghana’s North East Region following the imposition of a dusk-to-dawn curfew.
Police have deployed reinforcement teams and armoured vehicles to contain rising tensions after two houses were set ablaze, triggering fear among residents.
According to the Inspector General of Police, the measures follow intelligence reports of threats by some youths to carry out further attacks in the area.
Authorities say the curfew and security deployment are aimed at restoring calm and preventing further violence as investigations continue.
