The government of Ghana has assured Ghanaians that measures are being taken to beef up security at the country’s border, as incidents of kidnapping, terrorism and trafficking have been steadily on the rise in the West African Sub-region.
The declaration comes as bordering countries of Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast have falling victim.
This has not been Ghana’s first-time addressing insecurity in the region, as President Akufo-Addo stressed on the importance of taking action during the 59th ECOWAS summit held earlier this year in Accra.
Information minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah addressing a news conference, also called for the public to be vigilant and report suspicious activity to authorities.
