Ghana’s foreign affairs minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has called for urgent international action in response to the humanitarian crisis unfolding in parts of Africa due to food insecurity.
The disaster, which has been brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, has been exacerbated by the conflict in Ukraine. According to her, global action must also build resilience for the future.
Ms. Ayorkor Botchwey made the call when she participated in a Global Food Security Call to Action meeting at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
