The government of Ghana has announced that four boats will be deployed in various regions across the country to guard marine life and ward off illegal fishers.
The new development was disclosed by Mavis Hawa Koomson, the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development during a press briefing.
She stated that the boats will be deployed to four coastal regions namely the Central region, the Greater Accra Region, the Volta region and the Western region.
She stated that acquiring the patrol boats would not only solve the issue of obtaining marine data, but would also help in the fight against piracy on the coast of West Africa.
