Ghana’s Parliament has passed a bill to decriminalize attempted suicide.

Under the new law, individuals who attempt to take their own life will be regarded as needing mental health support, rather than facing prison sentences.

WADRs Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson in reports that the move has been applauded by mental health advocates, who have been pushing for the bill’s passage for many years.
