In Ghana, recommendations from the Constitution Review Committee are beginning to receive public endorsements following their presentation to President John Dramani Mahama.
Prof. Kwadwo Appiagei-Atua, a law professor at the University of Ghana has expressed support for key proposals, including extending the presidential term from four to five years and taxing presidential salaries and benefits.
The eight-member committee, chaired by Professor Henry Kwasi Prempeh, also proposed lowering the minimum age for presidential candidates from 40 to 30.
Supporters say the reforms could modernize Ghana’s constitutional framework and strengthen democratic governance.
