The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has disclosed that seven more persons infected with the Omicron variant of Covid-19 have been identified in the country. This brings the total number of cases to 41.
Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, said the cases were detected after community testing was conducted following the 34 cases that were initially recorded at the Kotoka International Airport. He noted, however, that the dominant variant in our communities remains the delta variant.
Meanwhile, there have been mixed reactions to the travel measures rolled out to curb the spread of COVID-19. Recall that now, all passengers traveling to the country must provide PCR Test Results and be fully vaccinated. Non-vaccinated Ghanaian citizens and residents have been given a 14-day grace period starting from 14th December, to arrive and receive vaccinations in the country. Additionally, airlines will be fined $3,400 per passenger if they board unvaccinated passengers and those without PCR Test results. Some travelers have been reasoning to these new restrictions.
