The election of a speaker for the 8th parliament in Ghana’s fourth republic turned chaotic after members of parliament for the National Democratic Congress and New Patriotic Party failed to agree on the how to conduct the secret ballot for the election of a speaker.
The military at some point had to intervene in the process which started at midnight with the dissolution of the 7th parliament. Currently, the process is underway with 275 members of Parliament casting their ballot.
