Recent comments and actions by President Adama Barrow are driving discussions in a section of the population that believes he is tilting towards an authoritarian rule.
In the past few weeks, journalists and critics of the government have been arrested and detained.
Barrow once celebrated as a symbol of hope and change after defeating the long-time ruler, Yahya Jammeh in 2016 is now seen as damaging democracy, a system he said was too much in the country.
As Sankulleh Janko in Banjul reports, CSOs claim Barrow is slowly eroding the democratic gains made during the early days of his presidency.
