Reactions have continued to trail the appointment of the leader of the former ruling Alliance for Patriotic, Reorientation and Construction (APRC) party to the parliament.

Fabakary Tombong Jatta’s appointment was confirmed in a statement last week Wednesday from President Adama Barrow’s office.

Shortly after Mr Jatta’s appointment as an MP, he was elected by parliamentarians as the speaker of the assembly.

Although a seasoned lawmaker particularly under the regime of former president Yahya Jammeh, Gambians are at the moment divided over his position.

They speak of his role in atrocities committed during Jammeh’s time in office.

Speaking to WADR, Baba Hydara, a publisher and one of the founding members of the Victims centre in the Gambia, confirmed their position on the trending national debate.
