Gambian President Adama Barrow has launched the country’s first national land policy, covering the period 2026 to 2035, aimed at strengthening land governance nationwide.
The policy seeks to recognize legitimate land ownership rights, promote responsible land use, address land disputes, and advance gender equality and youth empowerment through capacity building.
Authorities say the reform will enhance land security, improve transparency and accountability in land management, and support economic growth across communities.
President Barrow described the policy as a central pillar of the government’s reform agenda, aligned with its political commitments and the National Recovery-oriented Development Plan, YIRIWA (2023–2027).
