President Adama Barrow must go back to the drawing board to convince supporters of former President Yahya Jammeh amid his denial of alliance with Barrow’s National Peoples’ Party NPP according to a Political Science Lecturer at the University of the Gambia.

Former Gambian President Yahya Jammeh and founder of the former ruling Alliance for Patriotic, Reorientation and Construction APRC said he did not approve the alliance of APRC and President Barrow’s National Peoples’ Party NPP.

APRC had announced forming a coalition with Barrow’s NPP in September 2021.

However, Essa Njie, a Political Science Lecturer at the University of the Gambia says the comments could prove costly for President Barrow in the December election.

Meanwhile, APRC is yet to officially react to the comments of their former leader but the legally recognized leader of the party Fabakry Tombong Jatta has called for calm among the APRC supporters.

He however, insisted that there is no turning back, adding they are fully behind President Barrow.
