Ousted Gabonese President Ali Bongo Ondimba has regained freedom to travel abroad for medical purposes, as his health deteriorates.
The Committee for the Transition and Restoration of Institutions made the announcement via a press release, broadcast on national television, signed by General Brice Oligui Nguema, President of the Transition.
Ali Bongo Ondimba was removed from office through a coup d’état on August 30, following the presidential election held on August 26. The election results had declared him the winner with 64.27% of the votes.
The coup leaders since nullified the election, dissolved all state institutions, and placed Ali Bongo under house arrest.
