A trial into the assassination of a senior army chief in Togo opened in Lome, the nation’s capital on Monday.
Appearing at the court was Major General, Félix Abalo Kadangha, the former Chief of Staff of the Togolese army.
Kadangha, a former ally of President Faure Gnassingbé was in the courtroom for the alleged murder of Colonel Bitala Toussaint Madjoulba on the night of May 3 to 4, 2020.
The assassination of Madjoulba, then commander of the first rapid intervention was announced a few hours after the inauguration of President Gnassingbé.
As Tofik Abdul Nasir reports, nineteen other officers were presented at the court alongside the primary suspect.
