The former Special Representative of United Nations Secretary General for West Africa and the Sahel, Mohammed Ibn Chambas, has called for more women representation in the transitional justice of the Gambia ahead of the parliamentary elections.
Mr. Chambas made the comments on Wednesday at signing ceremony of the Code of Conduct for National Assembly Elections which commits candidates to respect laws of the country.
Although he commended the political parties for filling in more female candidates in the upcoming National Assembly elections than the previous one, the top diplomat says more women should be included in decision making processes as the country continues to transition in to democracy.
