The European Union has allocated one hundred and two million euros in aid to enable the Lake Chad Basin Countries to assist vulnerable communities.

The humanitarian aid by the European Bloc announced at the end of a two-day Summit on Lake Chad held in the Nigerien capital, Niamey will support the populations with basic services.

EU in a statement expressed concerns over the increasing large-scale displacements and disruption of livelihoods triggered by armed violence in the region.

As Tofik AbdulNasir reports, other objectives of the funding include supporting emergency education for displaced children and strengthening disaster preparedness.
