The European Union will soon be signing an agreement to tackle illegal immigration with Mauritania.

The subject was on the agenda of a meeting of the Council of Ministers.

However, the ongoing deal is causing a stir in the country because the agreement stipulates the return to Mauritania of migrants intercepted at sea.

This particular point has offended the main opposition party.
