During the weekend’s summit, the West African leaders also agreed on a new road map to launch a single currency in 2027.
The bloc had planned to launch a common currency this year but postponed the plan due to challenges posed by the Corona Virus pandemic.
Another decision taken was to reduce the management structure, which entails five Commissioners plus the President and vice President, making seven, down from 15.
