The Economic community of West African states parliament has encouraged member countries to improve on the recovery rate of the community levy.
This was one among other considerations by the community during a three-day parliamentary seminar, which ended on Thursday March 25, in the Sierra Leonean capital – Freetown.
The regional bloc on Tuesday began a session under the theme "Involvement of Members of the ECOWAS Parliament in monitoring the implementation of the protocol on the Community Levy".
Sidi Muhammed Tunis, speaker of the ECOWAS parliament said arrears in contributions and the low recovery rate of the Community Levy, which has been 30% for the past three years, has had the immediate effect of reducing ECOWAS' capacity to implement projects and programs.
