The regional bloc ECOWAS says it remains optimistic about the conduct and outcome of the Liberian general elections despite the challenging campaign season.

The bloc last Friday handed over four off-road vehicles, a batch of computers, IT and office equipment to the National Electoral Commission in Monrovia to support today’s process.

In addition, the Electoral Commission received 500,000 thousand US dollars as financial support and the deployment of more than a hundred observers.

The ECOWAS Election Observation Mission led by Professor Attahiru Jega, former election Chief in Nigeria consists of technicians to assist with the management, collection, processing and dissemination of voting data.

The Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security at the ECOWAS Commission Dr Abdul-Fatau Musah has been speaking to the media.
