The ECOWAS Court of Justice has ordered Liberia to pay Counsellor Kabineh Muhammad Jan’neh, an impeached Judge of the Supreme Court of Liberia, the sum USD200, 000 as reparation for moral prejudice suffered for the violation of his rights.

In its ruling Tuesday, the Court also mandated Liberia to pay to the Applicant all his withheld entitlements, including salaries, allowances and pensions benefits as from the date of his impeachment to the date of notification of the Court’s judgment.

In 2019, Justice Jan’neh was impeached by the Legislature for granting a Writ of Prohibition to stop the government from collecting taxes of US$0.25 imposed on the pump price of petroleum products in the country.
