The ECOWAS Centre for Gender Development (ECGD) will convene a three-Day experts’ meeting today (Monday) in Dakar, followed by a meeting of ECOWAS Ministers in charge of Gender and Women's Affairs on 15 October 2021.
The meeting will focus on the draft ECOWAS Regional Strategy for Preventing and Responding to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and on the ECOWAS Project on Sexual Harassment in Workplaces and Educational Institutions.
The meeting comes as experts report a resurgence of sexual and gender-based violence in both private and public spaces in West Africa and elsewhere.
