ECOWAS is considering placing a term limit on the tenure of governments in West Africa. This is part of the ECOWAS Agenda 2050 which aims to promote the rule of law and democracy in the sub region.
During the popularization workshop for regional civil society organizations on ECOWAS vision 2050 in Freetown, Sierra Leone, Vice-President of the ECOWAS Commission, Finda Koroma said a vote will be held on July 1 to determine this and other long term measures for leaders of member states to comply with democratic tenets.
