Togo is a member of the COVAX initiative, the global mechanism to facilitate countries' access to the covid-19 pandemic vaccine.
This is an announcement by Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé, who says he is mobilizing the resources needed to protect Togolese people against the new coronavirus.
The Togolese government has also explained that the vaccine will be for the benefit of those most exposed to the disease.
In the details provided on Wednesday by the Togolese government, the vaccination campaign will be carried out in two stages and mainly targets two categories of people in the country.
Firstly, the vaccination campaign will be reserved for health workers, Togolese over 50 years old and people under 50 years old but with co-morbidity factors.
In Togo, the number of covid-19 cases is 3 807 since last Wednesday, 70 deaths related to the pandemic have been recorded according to the authorities.
