Nigerians may be required to take extra shots of the covid19 vaccine to stay safe despite being vaccinated against the coronavirus disease says Professor Akin Abayomi – the Lagos State commissioner of health.
Professor Abayomi made the remark Tuesday during a briefing in Ikeja, the state capital.
The commissioner said the vaccine is certainly protecting the population from severe disease and death but as the virus is changing, it may require that health authorities recommend more than two doses.
According to him, while scientists around the world are toying with the idea that a third or fourth dose may be required, the state government plans to vaccinate 30 percent of Lagos residents by the end of the year.
