Cote d’Ivoire’s electoral umpire announces first batch of results from local polls

More than 24 hours after the Municipal and Regional elections in Cote d’Ivoire, the Independent Electoral Commission has released official results for more than 100 communes and 8 regions of the country.

These include Yopougon, where over 139,000 people voted, and Adama Bictogo of the ruling RHDP was declared the winner after securing 44 percent of the votes.

Other communes are Abobo, Adjamé, Cocody, Bingerville, attecoubé, Tiassalé, Bouaké, Agboville, Adzopé and Ferké.

Émilie Ebrottié, spokesperson for the IEC, announcing the results, reminded voters and candidates who could not find the results for their various localities, to do so following the required procedure.

The first batch of the results as proclaimed by the electoral commission has RHDP, President Allasane Ouattara’s party taking the lead both in the municipal and regional elections.
