Cote d’Ivoire opposition party establishes committee to combat electoral fraud

The president of the African People’s Party-Côte d’Ivoire (PPA-CI), Laurent Gbagbo in a statement on Wednesday said he has established a committee to combat electoral fraud.

Habiba Toure has been appointed as the committee’s president by President Gbagbo.

The party will disclose the name of the committee and its members during an official ceremony at a later date.

Local municipal and regional elections have been scheduled for September 2 in Côte d’Ivoire.

Recall Following a 2020 electoral campaign that was boycotted by the opposition, President Alassane Ouattara was re-elected for a third term with 94.27% of the votes, according to official results announced by the Independent Electoral Commission.
