Former Ivorian First Lady Simone Gbagbo has called for the drafting and adoption of a new constitution.
She also called for a new Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) that can guarantee peaceful elections.
During a conference in Abidjan, Simone Gbagbo took issues with Prosecutor Adou Richard's claim that opposition leaders are responsible for the post-election crisis in 2020.
For her, it is the 2016 constitution that is the source of the crisis of the third term of president Alassane Ouattara, adding that it is a sufficient reason to draft a new constitution.
Several political parties and civil society organizations attended the conference.
Let’s take a listen to the former first lady.
