More than 400 rebels seized by the Chadian government almost two years ago during a gun battle with the state government have been sentenced.

A court in Ndjamena Tuesday sentenced the fighters to life in prison over the death of former president Idriss Deby Itno.

Recall Deby died in 2021 from gunshot wounds he sustained at the battlefront against insurgents.
