The junta in Burkina Faso has announced plans to recruit thousands of soldiers to fight insurgents.

Scheduled to commence next month, the army says the recruitment will strengthen the ranks of the combat team in the theatres of operation.

The recruitment exercise comes weeks after the transitional government established a security task force to tackle the growing insecurity.
