ARTS & CULTURE – THE HOMOWO FESTIVAL OF GHANA

In Ghana, there is a harvest festival called Homowo, meaning to “hoot at hunger”, which is celebrated by the Ga people.

The festival is in remembrance of famine in precolonial Ghana.

During the festival, attendees assume the roles of kings, queens, royals, and followers of all the different ethnic groups of Ghana!
