There was drama in the ongoing trial of former Liberia Rebel leader Alieu Kosiah in Switzerland on Wednesday, when the 9th prosecution witness refused to leave the witness box.
The former bodyguard of Kosiah said he would not step down from the box or return to Liberia for fear for his life and demanded the judge order immediate witness protection. The incident which resulted in a delay of proceedings, surprised many including the accused.
Alieu Kosiah is charged with war crimes, including rape, executions and cannibalism committed during the Liberia civil war. He has denied all charges.
The trial continues today with an ex general who was part of the war giving testimony. Liberia Journalist Anthony Stephens has been monitoring proceedings and narrates how events unfolded to WADR’s Atiewin Mbillah-Lawson.
