International media organization Al Jazeera says it will not apologize to Ghana’s President Akufo-Addo over its recent investigative documentary, ‘Gold Mafia’.
In the damning documentary conducted into some of Zimbabwe’s gold smuggling and money laundering syndicates, one of the key parties, Alistair Mathias who helps clean dirty money, mentioned Ghana as a country he operates in, and President Akufo-Addo as his friend and former lawyer.
Reacting to the documentary, a letter signed by Secretary to the President, demanded that Al Jazeera Media Network retract immediately and apologize for airing an inaccurate and unfair documentary that contained spurious and unsubstantiated allegations against the President and the Government of Ghana
But Al Jazeera has dismissed the demand.
