As governments from across West Africa plan to reopen schools for the 2021 academic session, an education think tank – The Africa Education Watch, mentions 2 key priority areas.
The education watchdog operational in countries including Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, and Sierra Leone, explained the impacts of the Ebola health crisis of 2014, as an example for the need to advance the education sector.
The group, however, hailed the e-learning platforms initiated by respective governments and academic institutions, to continue learning for millions of learners.
The United Nations children's agency in a report said that over one billion youths and children had their education disrupted due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus in 2020.
Speaking to WADR, the Executive Director of Africa Education Watch – Nsa Kofi Asare said, the reopening of schools should embody the 2030 sustainable development goals of leaving one behind.
