Traditional leaders in Liberia are rejecting calls by the International Community to end the practice of Female Genital Mutilation, FGM in the country.
Currently, there is no law that out rightly bans the practice in Liberia as a yearlong executive order prohibiting FGM has expired.
While gender activists are hopeful that the President will renew the executive order, and possibly enact long term law against the practice, some parents hope otherwise.
