Whether in conflict or war situations, natural disasters, or social and health emergencies, the first responders oftentimes are the humanitarian aid workers.
And even when there seems to be no will and access to services and other actors fading out of the response plan, aid workers don’t. They simply stay.
This is built on the conviction of their role, appreciation of their tenacity and the solemn promise to save lives by supplying food, medicine and psychosocial support.
But sometimes, they pay the ultimate price.
Our focus, this week is on ‘The work of local humanitarians in insecure areas’.
