The trial of a Gambian former minister accused of multiple counts of crimes against humanity will open before the Swiss Federal Criminal Court on Monday, January 8, 2024.
Ousman Sonko allegedly committed these crimes under the regime of former President Yahya Jammeh according to an NGO, TRIAL International which filed the criminal complaint against him in January 2017.
As Oge Obierika reports, nine plaintiffs will travel to Bellinzona to be heard by the court as the tenth plaintiff died in October 2023, due to lasting consequences of her mistreatment at the time.
