Nine Ghanaians have been convicted and sentenced to eight years imprisonment for attempting to smuggle 10.8kg cannabis into Nigeria through the sea.
Delivering his ruling on the matter, Justice Akintayo Aluko of the Federal High Court in Lagos, Nigeria's commercial hub, convicted the Ghanaians of conspiracy and dealing in cannabis.
The convicted persons were initially arrested by men of the Civil Defense Corps and transferred to the Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA for further investigation.
