Today on Citizens Hour, we turn the spotlight on key democratic and governance developments across the subregion in 2025.
Throughout the year, the programme examined the state of democracy, highlighting both consolidation efforts and democratic setbacks. We explored elections and governance issues, the final exit of AES member states from ECOWAS, as well as major political events including elections in Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea-Bissau and foiled coup attempts in Benin, among other significant developments.
This retro edition also revisits our thematic debates and magazine segments, which focused on civic participation, women and youth involvement in governance, the impact of misinformation on democracy, and the role of new media in promoting good governance and accountability.
