About one hundred and fifty beggars and destitute were evacuated from the major streets of Abuja, Nigeria's capital, for allegedly constituting nuisance and disturbing the peace in the city.
The evacuation of the beggars mainly women and children including old men was carried out at the weekend, by officials of the Social Development Secretariat in collaboration with other relevant agencies.
Correspondent Usman Umar in Abuja, reports that the evacuated beggars, after profiling, are to be repatriated to their respective States.
