Senegal’s President Macky Sall has announced the indefinite postponement of the presidential election originally slated for February 25. In a televised address to the nation on Saturday, he disclosed the cancellation of the electoral law, attributing it to a contentious disagreement concerning the list of candidates.
President Sall, having completed two terms in office, clarified that the delay stemmed from disputes over eligible candidates. While affirming that he would not pursue a third term, he did not specify a new date for the rescheduled elections.
