The Chadian government has expelled the German ambassador to the country and asked that he leaves within 48 hours.
Although communicated via a tweeter post by the Ministry of Communication, the executive order, sources say followed his comments about Chad’s delayed transition to civilian rule after the 2021 coup.
Two Chadian government sources said on Saturday that Ambassador Gordon Kricke had also criticized a ruling last year that will allow interim military leader Mahamat Idriss Deby to run in elections in 2024.
The German foreign ministry is yet to officially comment on Kricke’s expulsion, but a source said the ministry was in contact with Chadian authorities.
