The World Health Organization (WHO) is calling on the Ghanaian government for the expansion of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to include coverage for critical illnesses, with a specific focus on kidney diseases.

Dr. Francis Chisaka Kasolo, the WHO Country Director, has emphasized that this initiative aims to ease the financial strain faced by patients who require dialysis.
