The World Health Organization has launched its first data portal that brings together in one place data on global indicators for monitoring the health and well-being of people aged 60 and over.

This is in commemoration of the International day of older persons celebrated every 1st of October.

Data is included for indicators such as percentage of older people aged 60 years and over; healthy life expectancy at age 60; major causes of death in older people; among other concerns.

According to the Director-General of the WHO, Dr. Tedros Adhonam Ghebreyesus, older people across the world have been the hardest hit by the covid 19 pandemic.
